week in my ears (12 to 18 July) Nothing to make the football captured much of my time last month and I must admit that the moments that are commonly devoted to music, changed for Fox Sports and other channels showing the panorama mundialero (in the car and prepare my radio program, they listened to music, but not enough to post suggestions).
Well, here I am again to discuss and recommend some albums and tracks and start with the first:
"Mojo" by TOM PETTY & the Heartbreakers (2010) .- The album that brings back to Petty and the Heartbreakers after eight years - "Higway Companion" in 2006 was its third solo album - is an almost entirely blues and southern touches to the Allman Brothers Band and although I'm not big fan of the blues, because it is a act of this caliber, you need to actually listen. "I Should Have Known It," the first single, is perhaps the most rocking track of the album and also my favorite of that work.
"Tattoos & Tequila VINCE NEIL (2010) .- 15 years after he published" Carved in stone ", lead singer of Mötley Crüe takes the band to break from his basically released an album of covers. Aerosmith, Cheap Trick, Creedence Clearwater Revival, Elvis Presley, Elton John, The Hollies, Sex Pistols, Scorpions, Sweet and ZZ Top are treated as Neil and his band - Jeff Blando on guitar, Dana Strum on bass and Zoltan Chaney on drums, which we were in the South American tour - in a selection of rare items and worth listening. Personally I prefer the version of "Who'll Stop The Rain" by CCR - I had the chance to hear the iPhone's own Vince during his visit to Santa Cruz - and give the impression that it was a song written for himself Neil. The disc also includes two unreleased tracks, which gives its name to the disc and "Another bad day", a composition of Nikki Sixx and James Michael that was discarded in the hearing on "New Tattoo" in 2000.
"Tidings" Wolf People (2010) .- I am still in shock after hearing this album. A job with a very sound second half of the sixties or early seventies, with a perfect blend of psychedelia, folk, r & b and blues. English they have managed to create an album that is similar to a trip to an unknown destination. Full interludes, has only seven full tracks, none exceeding five minutes. 100% recommended, great album.
"Serotonin" MYSTERY JETS (2010) .- A very chilly, with a melodic indie rock with progressive touches and moments present post -punk. These Englishmen, who have three albums, presented particularity, having among its members a father and son, the Harrisons have the greatest of them playing guitar, keyboards and percussion and the child as the lead singer. Give him a chance, do not disappoint.
"Miss America" \u200b\u200bSAVING ABEL (2010) .- This second album of this band in Mississippi is much stronger than its predecessor and reflects the musical and lyrical maturity quintet. From the energetic 'opener' "Tap out" through the gentle "Angel Without Wings" to reach the single "Stupid girl (only in Hollywood), it is a good dose of Southern touches rockandroll and post-grunge, yes, there is nothing new that has not heard before there.
"American slang" from THE GASLIGHT ANTHEM (2010) .- The first hearing will not give them much ball and then give them reviewed, I found an album that I have not stopped heard from a few weeks ago. With a clear influence of Bruce Springsteen - not to mention the same source, New Jersey - this "American slang" has a lot of folk, post-punk, and even American heartland and is a salute to classic rock bands such as Derek and the Dominoes and Rolling Stones. Why wait, listen now
"Well done Europe" from THE CHAP (2010) .- And as there are discs that delight, others are disappointed or do not live up to expectations. I think it's more of the latter, because after reading rave reviews about the new album from these British, I came across an album boring, dull and heavy, when I expected something fly brains. Perhaps it is one of those albums that can not be commented on first listen, try to give him another chance.
"Alive" by Ed Kowalczyk (2010) .- This is the solo debut after leaving Kowalczyk of Live and is a work not too far from the sound of his former band. Supporters of the quartet will be pleased with this album that Kowalczyk's voice returns after four years in silence and presents it in good shape vocal and more spiritual lyrics on the albums of his former band (perhaps also a little softer). Personally, I see it as an extension of Live and there is nothing surprising among the 11 songs on the album, but I consider it obligatory for every fan of noventeros of York, Pennsylvania.
And the songs that sound, are:
"Let's go surfing" of THE DRUMS .- New Yorkers made a balanced mix of sound post-punk, surf and pop, with a little something the Beach Boys and droplets around the eighties, the subject of infectious melody and a whistle to keep in your head by days of days of days ... "Afterlife" by BUSH .- A great return on the British - even if only singer Gavin Rossdale and drummer Robin Goodridge - with a song that serves as a preview for a new album and is sounding very current and renewed and I hope the album coming out in October is a reinvention of the band. In the meantime, is enjoying this great song. Http://bush-music.com/
"The high road" of BROKEN BELLS .- DangerMouse's collaboration and singer James Mercer of the Shins is in Broken Bells although both the album's first single spent several months on the market, "The high road is one of those issues back to haunt me from time to time and I would love to share with you. Experimental, dark and melodic, worth a listen. Http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-mkr19RSG6k&feature=PlayList&p=B144AA923440F6BA&playnext_from=PL&index=0&playnext=1
"The Press" from THE MAGIC NUMBERS .- Without doubt one of the sweetest melodies I heard in recent times and it brings to mind bands of the late sixties and early seventies that had a wave of pop / folk psychedelic string arrangements. Five minutes and some seconds of sonic delight that make "The press" one of my favorite songs of the moment. Http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4MVJiE4E2Q0
PS: if you can, listen to the album version, which is longer.
That's all, folks!
