I return to write about the music I listen and that somehow I recommend to buy, then get off or see how to attain. As usual, I start the album, right?
"Kick" by INXS RECORD CLUB (2010) .- With the shape of a relaxed gathering of musicians to record an album in one day, without trial or arrangements, the Record Club Beck (yes, the prolific musician gringo) has recorded five albums to revisit the works of other artists: "Velvet Underground and Nico" The Velvet Underground, "The songs of Leonard Cohen" Leonard Cohen, "Oar" by Skip Spence, " Live at the Acropolis "Yanni" Kick "by INXS that is the album I was listening to these days. With the singer Annie Clark (artistically known as St. Vincent), the Brazilian Sergio Dias of Os Mutantes and the New York trio Liars, Beck made versions of the 12 songs in the disc of 1987 Australians, led by Michael Hutchenche. It is an enjoyable, interesting and worth a listen, of course it would be important to know the original to understand the recent re-releases and improvised. If you refer to the level of the musicians, go it is tall.
"Slash" by Slash (2010) .- A wide selection of guests, characteristic sounds of guitar and 14 songs are part of Slash's first album under his name (she had two Slash's Snakepit albums) already has spent four months on the market. A medley of singers ranging from old school performers such as Ozzy Osbourne, Iggy Pop, Lemmy Kilmister (Motorhead) and Ian Astbury (The Cult), not as old as vocalist Chris Cornell and Kid Rock and recent frontmans and Myles Kennedy (Alter Bridge), Andrew Stockdale (Wolfmother), Adam Levine (Maroon 5), M. Shadows (Avenged Sevenfold) and Fergie - yes, none other than the very member of Black Eyed Peas - together with Dave Grohl on drums and Duff McKagan on bass on a topic, accompanied by former Guns N Roses guitar player in a collection rockandrolera good, solid, somewhat overproduced, but not at all predictable. "Starlight", "Crucify the Dead," Promise "," Gotten " and "I hold on" is my favorite.
"White Cross" Against Me! (2010) .- This is one of those albums that grew on me with each listening. It features great songs to sing in chorus, those for stage, in a post-punkera wave and a more experimental album than previous works. The band reminds me of something - perhaps a little voice and style - to any act of the eighties, who still can not identify. Besides "I was a teenage anarchist," the first single goes ringing everywhere, outstanding issues "with me Ache," "We're breaking up" and that names the album. Good album, give it a heard.
"To the sea" by Jack Johnson (2010) .- Each disc of this Hawaiian contribute songs to a long list, which then associate costs or separate them with an album particular. His acoustic style, soft, traveling between the thin line between pop rock is unmistakable - and often predictable - and any fan could identify Johnson among hundreds of performers today. After four albums with similar sounds - plus a soundtrack for 'Curious George' - the latest album surprised, especially by incorporating electric guitars with distortion (With vintage sound, but electric) and other less aggressive as mellotron, organ, accordion and harmonica, resulting in a full band sound that leaves behind the image of the guitar solo with plastic string. I do not know if "To the sea" is my favorite album of the surfer - could be on its way - but I know that "At or with me", the second single in promotion and dark / ambient / melancholic "Only the ocean" are among my preferred.
"Dark night of the soul" by Danger Mouse & Sparklehorse (2010) .- Originally intended for release in 2009 and legal problems delayed by record labels and the like, "Dark Night of the Soul" features a collaboration of musician and producer Brian Burton, better known as Danger Mouse, Sparklehorse noventera with the band, led by the recently deceased Mark Linkous. The ambitious project, was not there, as well as composing among those mentioned, they invited other musicians such as Iggy Pop, Julian Casablancas of the Strokes, Black Francis of the Pixies, Suzanne Vega (Luka remember?), The Swedish Nina Persson of the Cardigans, Jamer Mercer of the Shins and Broken Bells, Vic Chesnutt, the Welshman Gruff Rhys of Super Furry Animals and visual artist David Lynch, who also published a book Photos to accompany narrative drive. It is a work atmosphere, intimate, dark, full of varied textures and especially, despite this intention in producing all the songs relate to each other. Recommended you can find the deluxe version or extended in this album, which includes two high-level instrumental, middle eerie reggae with Jason Lytle of Grandaddy and the other a lofty number with the Flaming Lips. A jewel of those that go unnoticed, I hope you give it a chance and get to hear this excellent disc.
"Battle Studies" JOHN MAYER (2009) .- is coming to year of his departure and lately I was listening to often. I put one of my favorite albums of 2009 and occasionally returns to my ears and I am pleased. It's my favorite album - with "Continuum" in 2008 - this singer and guitarist and I like it for its freshness, its lyrics and the feeling of familiarity that comes with every listen. "Battle Studies" Mayer shows a more mature vocally and with very little round disc. I love the nod to the eighties in "Heartbrakes warfare" with elements reminiscent of U2 and "Bad".
"The brothers movement" from THE BROTHERS MOVEMENT (2009) .- Irish them bring an easy listening album with an indie sound, psychedelic pop and some folk melodies that evoke the English groups like The Verve, The Charlatans and a great eighties band that went by without much glory as The Dream Academy, in addition to some a more recent act like Americans "The Swimmers." Highlights the voices and the sound of the disc itself, without being something completely new, refreshing and surprising.
The songs, mostly without the support album ...
"Impossible" by Anberlin .- One of my current favorites. Rapid, simple, contagious, with guitars semi punkeras and a vocal line more interesting, thoughtful lyrics as well. By far the best thing that made this band, I left a feeling of well being every time I hear it. Here the link for you http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bjE_2fFMnG0&feature=av2e
"Say you'll haunt me" STONE SOUR . - It's no surprise that the singer of a band as far as Slipknot, can do something more melodic and commercial as performed with his side project (especially because it is Corey Taylor as a composer in both cases), but after the last record of nine of Iowa, this is an issue that could well be also Stone Sour or Slipknot - know what I mean? I like the song, do not misunderstand me, but I think there is no clear line separating, as in the past, a band of the other. A good first single for an album coming out in September, but I keep opening cuts of the previous two albums ("Bother" and "Through Glass"). Http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=y8js0qgVnzs
"Crossfire" BRANDON FLOWERS .- Few solo singers that sound can be separated his band, especially when closely related to it or are the main composers. This is the case of Brandon Flowers, lead singer of the Killers, who on top of the popularity of this group, decides to take his own material, although the reasons we can not find ("Make money alone? Record songs discarded by other members? overflowing Maybe a creative flow that they can not join the other members?). While it is one of my current issues - for their freshness and infectious melody - "Crossfire" could easily have been considered as an issue of the Killers and not far at all from what was done by the excellent band (especially to me makes it the "Day and age"). "Flamingo", the debut album Flowers, not yet seen the light and at one time will tell whether his departure favored or harmed in any way the quartet from Las Vegas. "Pretty melody" of Butch Walker .- I must admit I did not give much credence to this simple "I Liked it Better When You Had No Heart", but at any moment became my favorite song on the album and also one of my favorite and most listened-to time. With a lyric that could identify many - smart and subtle, as always Walker - and one of those tunes with taste, smell color and nostalgia, this aptly named "Pretty melody" (nice tune) highlights the vocal and interpretive quality and could well be a song that you present to your old. Recommended where to listen and watch it also because the video is pretty good. Here's the link ... Http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9aTU5TjR39U
"The catalyst" LINKIN PARK advancement .- The theme of "A Thousand Suns" features industrial elements and electronic and if it were not for the voices of Mike Shinoda and Chester Bennington, could pass for a song from any other group. Unlike "Breaking the habit "that also dabble in such sounds, this track has a structure with many textures and unpredictable tempo changes and a climax that comes midway through the song and a chorus that will be worthy of" sing-alongs "in vivo. New sounds the Linkin Park with the first coupon, we should expect that brings the disc to his departure in mid-September. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bftTUAIVMUQ
Another video clip is very good is that of Cochabamba Oil with "Godless," the first single "Guns", his second album . Again, this band has raised its parameters and quality both musically and visually and it would be time to export your music. On the other hand, the young but experienced Boulocq Martin's talent and recover credibility - at least for me - after that horrible clip he did to the Santa Cruz of Polysonika. Great job editing was also in charge of the Boulocq. Http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wVLCURfF5As
