Low production and high export of garlic

Cabe mencionar además que de acuerdo con cifras del Minag la producción garlic January to June 2010 was 9.770 tonnes, lower by about 42% to that presented in the same period of 2009 in which 16.982 was nationwide.

The administrator of the Wholesale Market Company (EMMSA), César Ainzuain reported that the income of garlic to the wholesale market has passed the stop, if 51 tons that entered July 31, 162 kilos admitted yesterday.

Thus, prices in that market have gone to cost about S /. 11 per kilo, while it dropped to S/.15 retailers on average.

"miscalculations"
For President of Conveagro, Federico Leon, the increase in the price of garlic was due to the low production to which is added, said, export has been miscalculated, when there is enough supply for the domestic market.

"We have no systematic tell us that demand is so and so and so production is being exported and hence the gap," he added.

The data
